MW2 Cheat Detected WTF?

I played MW2 online last night without a hitch, went to have a blast today and a message pops up saying cheat detected.

I had a search which led me to check my VAC status and i have been banned from "some games" i.e. MW2.

I have never cheated online and this really takes the biscuit, is there any way to sort this out?

Have a check up on steam forums, accidentally clicked on the VAC section yesterday and the whole section is stuffed full of people with the same problem.

Those forums are a mess rofl. Looks like quite a few people being banned for no reason though.

Nah more lots of people who know why they were banned saying there was no reason in the vein hope of being unbanned.

Usually with that many people posting I'd say false positive... but given the number of people cheating in MW2 its quite likely VAC has updated to detect one of the more common cheats and they are all crying

Got the same, not played the game since the release of BC2. Had few games last Sunday then yesterday thought have other go, logged in and was kind of shocked to see i was banned. Few replays from steam and jack they can do or say about it. I for one would never cheat or hack, goes against my take of the fun of gaming.

So looks like mess from IW with the update to VAC, be last i buy from them.

I'm quite tempted to buy this game, install it on a clean system and see if it bans me.

Would be good for a laugh if it really is banning people for using W7 x64.

It sounds like they've started VACing for the console unlocker, that may be catching everyone out.

Have you ever been in a hacked or modded server. I found myself in one a few weeks back that gave me millions of points for a kill. Maybe its banning for things like this now. I know you get banned on console for the lvl 70 hack.

Is that what reason people are using? I'm using w7 x64. Not banned.

You might find it also applies to programs that allow changes to be made to other games by the same developer. Blizzard's Warden supposedly detects hacks for D2 and SC.

They don't ban for that. If they did there would be about 150 people left playing the game.
