Was not accusing, just wondered how the thread got so long as usually it is because someone gets busted. I have a major hangover so reading is not coming easy to me at the moment. ;)

Easy solution for MW2. Ship it with pre-installed aimbot and ESP then everyone is on a level playing field ;)

I stream my servers to both PB Bans and AON and there have been many times when Even Balance (the owners and creators of Punkbuster) have banned false-positive. VAC never do, if your banned your banned end of. I suspect that even if they later find that they may have issued a false-positive, they would not overturn the decision "because VAC is the the most accurate anti cheat out there"

All the anti-cheat associations tend to share their technology (except PunksBusted who are like VAC in this respect) and are open in exchanging information, however VAC is more closed-shop.

When they mention that a VAC employee first confirms that the ban is valid, this is not to say that he specced you and saw red and blue boxes all over the screen or viewed a screenshot with same.

They measure the lengths of critical files and if not the same, bye bye. They also check for known running processes (yes, VAC, PB etc all have members of the major hacking distributors) such as eg mw2hax.exe running at the same time as mw2.exe and if in the same thread/process, again, bye bye. They do this I believe on 3 separate occasions too, just to be sure. They also employ delayed bans too, so "dodginess" today may not get you banned for a couple of weeks.

I'm not saying one way or the other if the Op was cheating, but one thing for sure is that, unless it is a very rare false-positive on VACs side, then there was a program running/had been running (not forgetting any rank hack program, the steam cloud will pick up on this)/contained in the game folder/a directory that you don't know about ... end of :\
 
yes i believe they did ship it with a aimbot at launch :D mw2 is comedy gold for hacks. i think every lobby i ever joined there one in every room

thing what makes this game worse is the lobbys. you can join a bad hacked lobby with no control by time your in its too late . that is bs another reason why not to play cod .

as for hacks in general its comedy gold how many i see check each day. the times you see people say oh ive got lag lol .most common way to catch a hacker undetected check for lag ci interupted connections.also watch pings for 20-30 ping jumps regular. most time they say yeah bad connection .

Oh well turns out it Valve did make a booboo and the OP may not be a dirty little hacker :p

No official official word on it yet, but its appearing all over so unless its some super large troll it appears legit. Giving out a free game and a bit is certainly one way to say sorry and repair VACs credibility a little I guess.

Who's to say that thay never did until now & no they should not have to give 2 free games of any choosing when most people would have been happy with just one free game anyway.

Valve has handled this error far better & quicker than other companies in this field or maybe you think that EA would have handled it better.

Most of them also said that in the past when things have gone wrong the bans were reversed and that is what would happen if any false bans were made in future, which is exactly what has happened, so I don't see what the problem is. on that respect.
