Question:

I know the party chat has been disabled on certain game modes and in the list the ones with a * allow party chat. How is it then that when trying to use it on free for all maps it says maximum party no. 1, therefore disabling the option of party chat on that map? It is infuriating me.
 
..because some servers allow private parties to join to make up the numbers.

Obviously, if that happens then you could cross-talk and have an advantage.
 
I understand the reason for party chat to be disabled on certain game modes. However, my problem is that it IS allowed on others like - free for all, ground war, mercenary team deathmatch - but I can't seem to get it to work. I am more than happy to stick to these modes for party chat but can only seem to get it to work on ground war. Me and my mate want to play free for all maps together but it tells you that the maximum number per party is 1.
Am I just being dense and missing something obvious?

Just be in a party with your mate, but be in a private chat channel, then you can enter and talk privately on any gametype
 
that would work to talk but it won't let you play together in free for all as the game party only allows 1 person. Im not quite certain why they did this as if you could talk to your mate it wouldn't exactly give you an advantage as its all against all. What if you just wanted to have a 6 man brawl against all your friends. I see no reason why they did it
 
It's free for all, you can't be in there in a party.

You both need to join the same game, but seperately.

Or create a private game if you want to play with all of your friends.
