MX-2 Vs AS5?

Hi.

Got some MX-2 thermal paste lying around, will this cause my CPU to run any hotter than say AS5? I want to check before I purchase some AS5 as then it'd save money and I'd just use this MX-2.

Both are good pastes,but,as said,the MX-2 has no curing time..so,seeing as you already have some,use it,and save yourself a few pennies.

Performance wise, assuming an equally successful application, the differences between the these two top-tier pastes are very much negligible. Indeed, well within the common error margin given the unavoidable removal, cleaning, re-application, re-seating of the heatsink etc.


Having the MX-2 already at ones disposal, there is little cause to purchase the other.

MX-2 is better than AS5. Slightly better temps, easier to work with, non-conductive and as already said, no curing time either.

I used a mix of the two for a while, didn't matter. They're all silicone grease with various stuff in.
