MX Reveloution

And by defaults I'd recommend mouse acceleration set to none, please don't use it, it is not a natural motion for the mouse pointer and only affects accuracy!
This is a piece of cake in Windows, but in OSX the drivers have no acceleration options at all! :( This would be my only complaint, if I had to make one...

It's a truly vile feature IMO, you move the mouse a bit faster during a stroke and all of a sudden the cursor is at the other end of the screen. Move it too slow and it's like it isn't accurate enough - yuk. Much better to use it how it was originally intended, no accel and slider for motion in the middle!

Ordered this mouse last night (as well as a new keyboard). Will leave the mouse charging for a few hours and use my old G7. Hopefully it isn't as bad as people say. I would've just re-bought the G7 as it hasn't done me wrong in 2 years - just felt like an upgrade (shame they stopped selling them :()

Just remember to use uBerOptions to unlock those extra features and also to actually customise the mouse to your needs - most people don't do this and dismiss it promptly as abad mouse! :p

Finally on a full charge. It's quite comfortable - probably on par with my G7. The document thing on the side won't cause me much grief as I don't have my thumb that far forward :p

Seems good so far :)

Anyone know how long one of these lasts on a full charge? I'll be using it most of the day :p

I bought my mx rev from overclockers and after 17 months it became faulty. I phoned the support department and they gave me the number for logitech support.
Immediately got a new replacement no questions asked, well i had to explain what the fault was. Great service from oc and logitech.

Full Charge is about 5-6 days for me. Using it about 12- 15 hours a day. No scientific proof because haven't tested, but i know it is something like that.

As others have already stated use Uberoptions(google it) to set it up, it provides way more option, and is better for setting up games.

It can take a little getting used to but it is a great mouse.

Yeah, what I mean is it always seems to go into the hyper-fast scrolling mode where the scroll wheel just rolls freely, if that makes sense :p

This can be changed in setpoint software. It's in the scrolling tab and where it says "Autoshift to free spin when wheel speed is:" then you chose the speed. It looks like you haven't even checked out have the options available to the mouse.

Woha, that's good! I dredded switching mice as my old G7 had two batteries (one sat in the charger, one sat in the mouse). Providing it lasts me through the day then I'll be fine with it :)

I'll also give uberOptions a quick Google now. :)

When i first set the mouse up with setpoint software i also had trouble with the scrolling wheel, it kept changing to free wheel scrolling and the web pages kept shooting to the end.
Eventually i worked out how to set it correctly using the setpoint software (although i now use Uberoptions). I now have it set to scroll 2 lines per click. It was user error.

Also dont forget pressing the scroll wheel alternates between scrolling types.

Had one of these since about 2002/3 I think. Still works like new. Can't really see what I could gain from another mouse. Maybe I'm missing out ......

USB Overdrive.

Logitech's software is god awful on OS X. It use to install Unsanity's horrible haxie system. APE. Then Logitech switched to using inputmanagers. Another iffy thing.

I've been using USB Overdrive for a few years now.

Just a bit of an update, after tweaking the mouse with the software provided and now used it for a few days solid I am starting to take a liking to this mouse :) Maybe I was used to my previous mouse, but its growing on me is the MX :D

Bit of an update from me too :)

Had the mouse now for about 2 days. Took some getting used to but I find it nice to use now. Haven't done any proper gaming with it yet (I did have a quick go on C&C RA3 which was fine) but I suspect it'll be alright. Took a little tweaking to get the speed and whatnot right but after that its great.

Battery life is pretty amazing also. I used it for around 12 hours and it didn't drop a battery bar :)

See once people start using it it grows on them and they realise it's great!

May as well add an update meself then. :)

Had mine a couple days also, still not sure what I'm going to use the thumbwheel for but it won't be App-switching. Set the center-wheel to auto-spin by default and click-click movement after pressing it. Works OK for me like that. The mouse buttons are right on the edge of being too light - but I can get away with it. Had another mouse where you couldn't barely leave your finger on the buttons and so I was always accidentally clicking. Drove me nuts that one. I've got fairly big hands and everything seems to be where I want it, the thumbwheel is not as intrusive as I thought, it's easy to ignore if you're not using it. Mouse movements are easy and precise, I don't use it for gaming though so my requirements are not as critical as others. I will need to get a better mousemat I reckon.

loved my MX revolution (back when i had a PC (and gamed on said PC)) absolutely no problems with the set point software installed, played BF2 and 2142 without a hitch (and achieved my usual 1:1 K/D ratio (coming from an MX510), i've got large hands and it was the perfect size. got it for £50 as well (about 1-1.5 years ago now )
