Following on....my thoughts!

I thought some people may be interested in finding out how the MX Rev compares to the MX1000 (I've had the MX 1000 for almost 3 years now and was a big fan!)

My MX1000 middle button broke recently so Logitech replaced it with a new one but in the few days "downtime" I just had to have a decent mouse so though about selling the replacement and buying the next one up, the MX Revolution.

&*%$£!? had it for £55 so I went down and picked it up. Installation via Setpoint is as easy as always with logitech stuff, everything works and uBeroptions installed perfectly too allowing me to customise the freewheel button and other stuff too.

The first few days were awkward - I was sure the MX1000 felt more accurate in motion and detailed work but in fact they're almost the same - it's the MX1000 that I was so used to, the shape and feel etc that it felt better but the build quality of the Revolution just outranks the MX1000 in every aspect - the wheel feels mechanical in ratchet mode compared to the loose plastic feel of the MX1000 and the freewheel is just amazing in apps like Google Earth or "random image" threads on various forums :)

I actually returned the revolution on the 2nd day because of the accuracy mentioned above but using the MX1000 again made me want the Revolution back, I found out the reason it felt less accurate was because the laser is actually at the opposite side of the base compared to the MX1000 which I was used to - simply adjusting my mouse usage to the revolution resolved this issue so I returned today and bought the Revolution a 2nd time round (lol).

The Revolution is lighter so better in games where fast movements are not as fast on a heavy mouse such as the MX1000. Though if you have bigman hands then the MX Rev will sit less comfortably I guess as it's lower profile.

Overall the best Wireless mouse I have yet to use! no response lag (same with mx1000) but many people will be put off by the price (£60-£70 retail, £55 on offers) whilst the MX1000 is £35 now on many places.

Highly recommended mouse! the packaging is also very slick.

I give it an 8/10 only because the battery meter in SetPoint is not as accurate in "days left" as I would like but other than that it's a comfortable and precise mouse after you get used to the shape of it!.

I just played a round of Bioshock with the MX Revolution and it is better than the MX1000 - especially now I've adjusted to it - the customised buttons via Uberoptions defo are better suited to this mouse than MX1000 :)

Also look, the MX Rev is more aerodynamic so you're sure to frag faster with it because you can cut through the air with uber-micro like precision *dies* :p

Good review, great mouse - i used one to.

You just get the impression its a quality mouse, feels great, little touches like if you leave it standing the battery indicator fades away instead of just turning off.

The wheels great too. Great mouse! worth the money imo.
