MX5 Goodness!

Well it's defo different you don't see that many supercharged ones around? Might want to try a turbo as well as this before you buy to make sure that supercharged suits you over turbo. It looks tidy you could certainly get a turbo cheaper however.. At the end of the day I'm sure it's a cracking car but make sure there is plenty of history (bills+receipts) as well as stamps. This may not be applicable if it's been imported which seems likely??? I think the Mk1 is a cracking car however and wouldn't change mine. 180bhp should be plenty of power!! :D

Those mk1 1.6s with FI are certainly awesome. They are low to the ground, light and go like stink! :D I'm currently knocking around 200bhp (I had 192.1 in the summer, but I've done a bit of work to it since). Lopez has had a go in it - all that he has to say is: ":D". I in a way prefer the looks of the mk1, but prefer the more refined characteristics of the mk2 (mine). Fantastic drive, they are an all round awesome little car (I may be biased ;)). The engines are pretty solid and foolproof too and with some good maintenance can last almost for ever...

The price is a "little" on the inflated side really. I know it's been supercharged but it is still an old car, with low mileage though for it's age. They do make awesome track cars, well, once they've been viagra'ed up a little ;)

The first thing I'd do if I had that particular one is remove the A/C - absolutely no need for it, especially if you're going to use it as a track **** - and if you're not, then bloody well drive with the top down! :D

It looks in great nick it must be said - I *think* this is one of the rare 1.6's that came with an LSD so definitely worthwhile.

That does look good but £6k! Ouch...

Out of interest how much does it cost to turbo a mx-5, just a rough figure will do as it might work out cheaper to buy a standard one and get it done yourself.

that car is super expensive!!

a brand new super charger is about £1700 + fitting
a brand new greddy turbo is £1000 + fitting

they are the cheaper options, you can get uber chargers for 3-4k and turbos from 2-4k also.. depending on quality and power output you require.

a good condition early mk1 is going to be around 3k tops really this time of year..

that car is about 1.5 - 2k over priced

I'm seriously considering getting a turbo'd 5 as my next car. I think i'd much prefer one over a turbo MR2, it's just a big problem insuring one  I can easily insure an MR2 turbo but when it comes to aftermarket turbos i just can't get a quote

I guess at your age that insuring a heavily modified car is going to cost a lot, whereas the MR2 would be less molested. I pay under £500 FC but that's with max NCB, IAM and living in a decent area of London. But I'm over 25 which does count for a lot.

I have to say I've never looked back since turbo'ing mine. It really is phenomenal. :)

Turbo costs, well currently my parts have come to 1k.

As a track car i wouldn't want to spend 6k on a car like that.

Buy a 2k Mk1, Jackson racing supercharge it, should cost you 4.5 / 5k all in gives you the fun of building it + you will get more power if you go for the 1.8

The Greddy turbo is pants, imho, the manifold fractures you have little scope for upgrades, personally if it was me an Begi or FM kit is the only real options, good quality and loads of scope for upgrades, with a Greddy you need to spend a fortune changing things to upgrade the power more.

How have you managed to do your mods for 1k firestar? That's some seriously cunning purchasing since the kits seem to cost about £2k new then you've got the fitting. :)
