I have an MX518 that I've owned for many, many years. It has served me very well.

Recently it seems that the mouse is changing its own sensitivity settings. My normal setting is 1600 DPI with the Enhance setting ticked. Every so often it will suddenly stop moving as fast as I expect it to (like the DPI has dropped right down). Pressing the reduce then increase the DPI buttons make it work as I expect again. This happens both when playing games and when just browsing etc.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Logitech Gaming Software - this seemed to work for a day or so, but I'm back to where I was :(

I assume the mouse itself is toast? Can it be fixed? Failing that, what would be my best bet to replace it with.

Many thanks :)

Have you tried it on another PC or laptop? Maybe a Windows or LGS setting is making it play up? Is the sensor clean underneath? Maybe the DPI switch itself has seen better days.

As far as a good replacement for your old MX518...

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £60.65 (includes shipping: £8.70)

I went from a tried and trusted MX518 to this very mouse. MX518 is still working, but needed another mouse and since I could not get the MX518, I got the newer version. Very happy with the purchase.

To bring closure to the thread - I had already stripped and cleaned the mouse with no joy, so my daughter is now using it and I'm now using a g502 Lightspeed which I'm very pleased with.

Cheers for the input :)
