So as the title explains, I am building my first PC, mainly for gaming and so the hardware I've bought already and the hardware I'm seeking to purchase in the coming weeks (hopefully) will be future proof and within my budget.
I have no previous PC to use old parts from so I'm building it from scratch.

So Im seeking advice on my remaining components I need to get please, if anyone could help me that would be much appreciated Thanks.

So here it goes…..

What Ive got so far :

PC case: Silverstone Raven RV03

Motherboard: Sabertooth x58

CPU: Intel i7 920 2.66GHz (will be over clocking this, hopefully up to 3.8GHz)

Power Supply: OCZ ZS 750w

DVD Drive: Pioneer DVR-220BK 24x

Ram: Corsair Dominator DDR3 24GB (Bought very cheaply off of a friend)

Does anyone see a problem with my build so far?

1. Im looking for advice on what graphics card to get, AMD HD 7970 or GTX 680, 2gb.

2. Can anyone recommend a good Heatsink Fan for my cpu because I intend to over clock it.

3. Hard drives, I need to get 2, one SSD and one HDD SATA III Drive, maybe 128gb for SSD and 2-3tb HDD

4. Operating System, should I go for Windows 8 or 7?

5. Also, can anyone recommend a good Gaming keyboard.

(Im hooking it all up to my 32 inch LED TV for now, until I get a monitor next month) Im looking at a 27" Monitor, maybe AOC or Dell Ultrasharp

My remaining budget is £700-800 (no need to get a monitor out of this)

I hope someone could help, thanks.

Wow well your first build is a lot better than mines :) haha

i cant really comment on much at the moment but from what i have heard windows 8 isnt all that great although i haven't tried it myself.

I have my computer hooked up to my 28inch lcd tv and it seems to work well enough for my purposes of general gaming and low level photo editing.

hopefully some1 a bit more in the know will jump in and give u a a hand on the other bits and bobs.

Oh mouse wise i use a R.A.T 5 and its awesome hehe :D

Well Ive been meaning to do this for a while and never really set my mind or set aside enough cash to do it. but ive been saving now for a good few months, and cant wait to finish it.

I might just get win7 and upgrade when I have to, ie when the newer games require win8.

the first thing I bought was a rat 7!! lol

Looks like you have a great build there, look at these and see what you think:

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7970 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H797F3G2M) with Crysis 3 & Bioshock PC Games £299.99
1 x Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Crysis 3 & Bioshock PC Games £249.95
1 x Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD2002FAEX) HDD £149.99
1 x Plextor M5 Pro 128GB Extreme Series Solid State Drive - (PX-128M5P) £99.95
1 x Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST3000DM001) HDD £95.99
1 x Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Blue (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £69.98
1 x Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £59.99
Total : £1,025.83 (includes shipping : FREE).

G/Card: AMD 7950 will overclock to the same as a stock 7970, both area great cards. I think the Gigabyte version is v/locked.
CPU: Included multiple coolers, both are incredible coolers, just depending on what you want to spend & which you prefer the look off.
HDD: The SSD is a great drive, gave you a choice of 2/3 TB drives. The Caviar Black's are super quick.
OS: Choice is yours to be honest. Loads of people have said both food & bad things about it. My mate upgraded and he loves it, I prefer Win7, so I think it's down to preference.

Hope this helps :D

Liking the look of the above suggestions. Just wondering on the RAM front, how tall is your RAM. If its tall it will collide with many big air coolers, such as the k2, d14 & TC14PE.

if that is the case best to look at CLC's. H80/H100/Kuhler series.

7950's are at a stonking price point now..

Wow!! I cant believe I missed this AMD 7950, Ive had my blinkers on for the gtx 680 for too long lol

with regards to the ram size and choice of cpu cooler, there is a fan that comes with the ram...do I need that on there, or can I leave it off which would leave room for the cpu coolers you suggested.

Reckon win7 for me and upgrade further down the line.

Thanks for the input so far, brilliant help thanks!!
