So I turn on my secondary 22" LG 22M38 display day before yesterday and play a youtube video on it, and its very very very very dark. Like old school plasma TV on minimum brightness dark. What the hell is this? I ask. I go into settings on the monitor. Nope, I didn't change them in one of my drunken stupors. Everythings where it should be. Maybe in a drunken stupor I changed windows or Nvidia display settings? Nope.
I can only surmise that something has gone wrong with the backlight, as the whites aren't even white any more, more of a pasty white person's skin tone. It's un-usable, basically. I tried playing with the gamme and contrast and brightness on the PC as well as monitor, but all I can accomplish is a still-dim washed out display. No improvement.
I have lost the receipt, which makes warranty service a no-go. Monitor was plugged into an expensive surge protector the whole time and I have another expensive surge protector built into the home's electrical panel, and during lightning storms I un-plug anything electronic, because I'm paranoid.
All I can conclude is that this monitor is a shoddy piece of garbage and I've just flushed $130 down the toilet.
