My 3080ti causing my "problems"?

Hey guys,

Sorry, but I started a new post as I think my issue is intermittent.

Sometimes when I power my PC on and check into afterBurner, my GPU MHz and MEMORY MHz are at "idle" (GPU : 210MHz and the MEMORY : 405MHz), and the average power draw is around 40W for the GPU according to AB..GPU usage also remains low spikes..

BUT! Sometimes when I boot up the PC, my stats do "drop" and rise again, and also go right down, if say im at 100% idle (leave the computer for 5-10 minutes and come back)..but then rise again, with the (GPU : 210MHz and the MEMORY : (in the region of) 1905MHz)..with the "GPU Usage" still low but he power draw now averaging around 100W??

Now, is this a situation to cause performance loss? damage the card? damage to the whole PC??

Any response would be greatly appreciated, as I want to ensure that my system that cost me a good chunk of change, is performing OK / Safe!

Thanks for the replies guys..

So its normal? Even if AfterBurner is saying that the "Memory Clock" is constant at full load, and the "Power Wattage " is constant at 100W with little drops in between times??

And the GPU usage stays "minimal" until I load a game etc..?

Im really confused.

Yep completely normal, Memory clock won't be at full speed all the time unless something in the background is being used, GPU usage will also remain in the single digits until a GPU accelerated task launches i.e a game, Rendering something etc...

Do you have "Prefer maximum performance" or "Normal" in the Nvidia control panel ?

Perfect, thanks for the clarification.

Its on the "normal" setting atm..?

Its confusing, as sometimes when I start the PC up the Wattage and Mem clock etc stay low? And sometimes it doesnt.

So it must be certain things under use, as the temps and GPU Usage stay low until, like you said, a game etc. launches.

Would a screenshot of AfterBurner help??

If it'll put your mind at ease post up the pics and we can tell you what's what :)

the only problem i see really is why is it drawing 100 watts at "idle" if i load gpu-z at an idle desktop my card jumps around 15-25 watts

Sorry, must update, when I leave it "idle idle" eg. literally leave it and come back, it does downclock, just when I start using it, even basic tasks, that it goes back up.

OK, thanks for all the help guys..

I mean its running fine, in desktop or gaming..so I will keep an eye on it, but as long as I wont damage my card etc. im overly fussed.

At the end of the day, its a four year warranty, Gigabyte so UK based, so not he end of the world. :)

OK guys, im stumped, I have just booted up my PC and now its all changed in AfterBurner..my idle is now not constant at 100W but now down to what I feel it "should" be..?? PLEASE SEE YELLOW GROUPING ON THE IMAGE AT THE BOTTOM.

Just installed Project Cars 3 and had a quick go (just to make sure my XBOX controller was working with the PC ok, in prep for FH5) and when I finished and quit the game, my GPU and MEMORY is maxing out, EVEN under low usage?

I wish I didnt have AfterBurner installed as my paranoia always gets the best of me!

I'm willing to bet you are running a whole host of programs that use hardware acceleration.

Chrome, Discord, Epic Games Store, Battlenet, etc. You have to literally shut down everything every single application.

cheers sonny. If that’s the case and is normal, I will let sleeping dogs lie.
