Got a new 360 controller today, had a nightmare installing with windows 7 64bit, think I might of had a fake receiver or something.

Any way it looks like it has now installed ok, as under device manager I can see "microsoft Common controller for windows class"

Every time I try and connect the controller to the receiver by pressing the sync button it finds it as stops searching, but then just keeps blinking green

Any ideas what I can do?

I had this, I followed these steps and it worked so hopefully it'll help!

click start button first
a. Right click on Computer
b. Go to Properties
c. Click on Device Manager
d. Right click on the Unidentified Device
e. Go to Properties
f. Go to the Drive tab
g. Click on Update Driver...
h. Browse my computer for driver software
i. Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
j. Windows Common Controller for Window Class
k. Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349
l. Update Driver Warning
m. Click Yes

Perhaps try uninstalling what's on there and then follow that?

Mine does this occassionally if I've left eh pad to goto sleep, wont reconnect.
Theres no unid item showin in dev mgr as its installed properly.

Reboot of PC normally resolves it

My receiver only worked with an old (white) X360 controller. My black controller wouldn't connect to it at all. I know they stopped making the receivers, I assumed it was a compatibility issue with the newer controllers.

Same here. I have both recievers hooked up to my media centre PC, one for the white controller and one for the black one.
