My 4870 died when my Hard Drive failed... (56k warning)

Hi all,

My rig details are in my sig and I've just purchased a shiny 1.5TB Seagate from OcUK to add to it, which promptly failed after around 4 hours of usage - which was the perfect amount of time for me to check it all worked, transfer all my movies + tv shows + ISOs accross (around 540GB total) then check that it'd all transferred ok... Then it died with a slightly odd smell and some loud clicking noises.

So right now I've lost all my library of recorded tv shows + ripped movies + disk ISO's, which is pretty depressing, but not the end of the world as I've got an RMA on the 1.5TB so I can remake my collection over the summer and make it bigger and better.

The reason I'm posting here: I think when the hard drive failed it's taken my graphics card with it!
(I know that sounds pretty stupid, but bear with me for a moment here)

I didn't notice the slight graphical corruptions here and there just after the hard drive broke as I was frantically trying to get it working + recover some deleted data from my primary hard drive but since I've spoken to OcUK and sent the HDD off for the RMA I've noticed quite a few problems of varying degrees...

Some pics to illustrate the problem:

^ This is the smallest problem, not a constant problem but occurs sometimes....

^ This is a pretty big problem, doesn't happen at every boot but sometimes...

^ This is what scares me the most, not always this bad but some artifacting can be seen in the BIOS every time.

Does anyone have any ideas as to whether this is fixable or should I just kill myself?

Other notes:

The Graphics card isn't overclocked at all, and the corruption occurs when everything is at stock and when it's overclocked.

I've tried reflashing the BIOS of the card to the stock BIOS and the second stock BIOS which is availible from TechPowerUp's database but it's shown no signs of improvement.

I didn't buy the card from OcUK - was from an online auction site so I don't have original proof of purchase, so I don't think manufacturer (PowerColor) will honour warranty?

Also: I can't play games, lots of artifacting then crash when I start playing GRID or any game really...

I'm pretty sure it's not a temperature problem because the temps never go above 60 degrees in game or above 40 degrees at desktop.
(GPU temperature from GPU-Z)

Sorry for the huge post, if anyone has any ideas please please please post...

Thanks for reading,

Banjo

EDIT: Balls, sorry - meant to post in Graphics Card section :(
