Hello there!
Bought myself one of the HD4890s from the OCUK sale of £60.
Put it in my machine and all seemed fine. However, the heat it is producing is just immense. 80*c on idle, and often will randomly hit 120*c and power down.
If there's any information you guys can spare, that would be extremely helpful.
(I know it's meant to get hot, but obviously not THAT hot).

tl;dr overheating problem with HD4890, help me please?

Unless you have no airflow in your case then it would appear to be faulty.

Possibly the cooler isn't fitted correctly or the fan isn't spinning.

As you've only just bought it then request an RMA via WebNote and get a refund/replacement.

There's a sound card blocking the airflow, however after removing it, it still overheated.
Thank you for the help. :)
