Got it today and so far ;

Corsair Value Select PC5300 DDR2

Did half hour of Orthos without errors, before I got bored :D

Gonna try to push a bit higher but 3 Ghz is more than what I expected of this ram

The corsair VS stuff is good Ram for the price.

I have the DDR2-533 stuff (4200?) and its hits 800mhz no problems at 2.1v.

Will depend on how much voltage you want to risk putting through it i suppose.

Aye I read 5300 stuff gets to about 2.4Ghz on 6300's Max so I was worried but wow, 3.1 Ghz @ stock voltage is rather amazing even with the ram @ 1:1

My ram is currently @ 900 Mhz (according to the BIOs)

Lol I don't blame you, your meant to do it when you not sitting at the PC (overnight etc) :D

Normally a 8MB Super-PI run is a good 'quick' test as you are climbing, then when you are getting near to your max a good blast of Orthos/Dual-Prime for 6-24 hours for the stability screenshots and your own peace of mind before the xmas gaming commences! (I like to see stability shots myself)

P.S: I wouldn't have even bothered replying to this but I saw your spec and thought it was refreshing to see someone using 'value' parts and overclocking, as opposed to £200 mobo + £200 cpu + £300 memory etc . . .

have fun! ;)

These 6300's are great aren't they :D Never had so much fun with stock air cooling! What stepping is your chip btw?

Mines running 3.15ghz, stock cooled and under stock volts (1.26 atm, mobo won't go any lower) on Abit AB9 non pro and Crucial Anniversary. Value overclocking (well bar ram) is certainly made easy with these Core2's! :D

Shame the mobo's maxed here though :( Need to dump it in the P5B and see how far it'll run with some more headroom :D

Not sure on the stepping didn't bother to take a picture :p

Gonna try getting the ram timings a bit lower now and the voltage below stock ;)

Crucial Anniversary
Those memory results looks 'real' nice!

Postman brought a set for me today but I was out! :o

[edit] post your Crucial 10th Anniversary memory results here :)

Steppings on the box mate :)
FPO/Batch#

Temps you can see in pic, coretemps in top left :D

Big.Wayne, maybe its worth making a seperate thread for results?

Coretemp doesn't seem to work on my PC, I mean it says like 59 celcius idle, where as the BIOs is around 40, Easytune (Gigabyte program) reports 40/39 and Speedfan does also, Intel TAT reports the same as Coretemp, bit confused!

FPO/Batch: #L628A069 ;)

Seems a touch high idle wise, what voltages are you running?
Ah, another week 28 :D These things ROCK :D This 63's a 28B, and 2 28A's have seen the far side of 4.7ghz under DICE :D <edit> 28A's are E6600's btw </edit>

 nice finally I got a good CPU!

I'm at about 1.250 volts, I think Coretemp / Intel TAT isn't reporting it correct though.

Could be, though coretemp is *meant* to be more accurate than onboard sensors.

Hmm well down to about 53/54 idle at the mo could reduce the voltage a tad more maybe, not too sure what temp to believe but I'll have a look!

Hope the temp is really around 40, if it is the true temp then I'd like to up the voltage and try get to 3.4 + :D
