My 7900GS Mini Review - Part 2 - SLI Results

Ok, so i went off and purchased a 2nd card today. I got another Leadtek card as i wanted a matching pair and the double with cooler on the Ocuk one may have interfered with my wireless card

First off the results with the cards at stock. CPU @ 2.6Ghz

3DM01 : 27633
3DM03 : 26457
3DM05 : 11763
3DM06 : 7043

Now on to the overclocked results. In SLI they didnt clock as well as the single card di but I managed to get 543/712

3DM01 : 28029
3DM03 : 29546
3DM05 : 12280
3DM06 : 7876

So close to 30k in 03, and well over 12K on 05. Almost 8K in 06 so im pretty happy with that.

Now for comparison, here are the results from when i had a 7900GTX, clocked at 677/1690

3DM01 : 28883
3DM03 : 22576
3DM05 : 10877
3DM06 : 6209

So in benchies at least, a pair of these in SLI outperform a 7900GTX so again im a happy bunny

I've just got a single Leadtek 7900GS - it's turned out quieter than I thought it'd be. I haven't put it through it's paces yet though.

Be interesting to see how a 7950 GX2 compares in a similar specification PC to yours, as I think the 7950's score approx 10k in top-end Intel Conroe systems, so maybe the 7950 GX2 would not offer much more speed.

In a review of the GX2 ( cant link as it has ads with competitor links ) it scores 7674 in 3DM06 with an X2 @ 2.4Ghz which puts it on par with my overclocked 7900GS's

From playing with my GX2 I got about 8200 stock and 10,200 with the GX2 Overclocked in 3D Mark 06. That was on my Conroe 6600 at 3.6G's

Thats pretty good, but your CPU helps a lot

I get 7700 or so with my 7900gts at stock and my processor about 2.6 ish. With some overclocking though (even without a volt mod) I can get 9k. With the volt mods 10k ish should be possible, but I probably won't get round to testing it.

Considering the price of these cards though, they do put out some serious results.
