my 8800GT won't overclock :(

so i took the plunge and got an eVGA 8800GT while on special from OcUK today, and she won't clock!

i'm no pro with rivatuner, but at 700/whatever, i think 1750 (i linked the clocks), 3dmark06 crashed, and at 675/whatever (again with linked clocks), it went through most of the tests, but on one, the balloon one, it was showing two slightly fuzzy images of the screen, so i called it quits. Both sessions the fan was manually set to 50%, and the memory was left at stock

i can't have spent 120 to get the exact same 3dmark score as before... any ideas?

Set fan to 100% manually, card isnt gonna be any cooler without changing the cooler/fan so will allow you to find most stable clocks. If its too loud then knock back the clocks a bit and for example fan to 75% etc
Make sure using latest Rivatuner, also try the 174.74 drivers too ?
