lol

i just thought in my head

"wow what a cheep ambilight soloution :P"

wont have to fork out the money for that tv that does it,

i wonder if it will work on a crt monitor :P .

i can top putting a cold cathode on a monitor though,

i fitted one in the grill of a mates scooter

tis a shame that it got nicked and burned a short time after.

ive got a few lying about here i might just give that a go on both my pcs this weekend.

wwwwwweeeeeee my mrs will think im sad

Nice one, post your results for us buddy!

mounting it on the back of a TFT...would heat be an issue, or should i mount it one the wall behind my TFT (once i actually can be arsed to do the mod)

Mines been on for the last 5 hours, its hardly warm at all, suprised me even, i thought it was gonna be warmer!

For those worried about the cathode giving discomfort or eye strain, heres something for you :)

Scientific literature has long supported the notion that reducing contrasts in perceived brightness between a visual display and its background will result in reduced visual fatigue and eyestrain. LRC researchers recently tested this hypothesis in the context of watching television.

Thanks for comments!

Yup! I always have a desk lamp behind my TFT at uni, and it makes it soooo much easier on the eyes. Lovely mod, definitely going to try this, although I suck with wiring. How much would you charge for doing the wiring? ;)

Awsome mod

and re: the bt home hub, just chucked mine, it was pants, made my web run at 160kb, took 2 weeks on the phone to india but finally an engineer came out. lol he said that loads of em are borked and that they are really badly made. On my old zyxel now and 6mb :D

Ive done this. Looks great and i find it helps my eyes at night. Couldnt get the things to dtick though. kept coming off. So now ive used no-more-nails sticky pads. Great inventions. Im using green/blue tubes.
