i did mine a while back after seeing something similar on the "show us your TFT setup" thread over in the monitors section.

i bought a 36" molex to molex cable from some company in the US as i couldn't find anything as simple in the UK.

does the job though and heres what it looks like during the day with curtains closed. it looks much better in the middle of the night while playing tomb raider or CSS.

ps. i think my camera is broken as i couldn't get any pics to come out clear.

Looking sweet guys

I did kinda the same thing to one of my CRT's about 3 years ago - But the CC is actually inside the CRT.
(Can't find pics online, am in work at the mo)

So a soft glow out the back rather than a "light the room up" type.

Much the same though - A molex modded into the back of the PC and power cable running along the monitor cable.
Inverter etc inside the monitor. (Plenty room in most CRT's for an inverter + 4" CC)

Might get this done with some of the spare CC's I have for the back of my current TFT.

(Mate is using my modded CRT at the mo as an extended loan... >.< )

Hmm well i just bought a blue cold cathode

Its going behind my two monitors and id say the pc is around a metre away(wire distance)

I spose ill need to extend the wire?

yes, but this other site probably also sells stuff/has links to stuff which OcUK sell, in which case afaik it would be linking to a competetor

You could always go for a red cathode if that would suit your colour scheme. If memory serves me correctly, Insects tend to have a visual range shifted towards the blue end of the spectrum, so red lighting shouldn't be as much of a problem. I guess it would depend on how pure the light source is.

nah, plus you can turn it off when ever as i got the power switch blu-tak'd to my monitor stand

update. bought 2 more cold cathodes lol and some new speakers Aego M2 or something

ps. camera is still broken so fuzzy :-/
