hi there i have a homebase 12k air conditioner and am intruiged by something and am wondering if you can help. there is a warning light on it to warn you when to empty the water via the cap at the back. i wait until this happens before empyting always. i have had the unit on for the same amount of time pretty much - however, the light did not come on for over 3-4 weeks meaning no empyting needed. in the last three days i have had to empty it every day - can anyone explain this? is it a fault?

also how often do you find you have to empty the water - esp applicable to those with the same unit.

hope you understand my question and thanks for your time

regards

freshy (esp with the air con on!)

humidity - the more water in the air the more the air conditioner will need to be emptied.

If you look at the weather over the past few weeks compared to the last few days you may have noticed that it had been pretty dry, until this week:)
Just a guess :)

got the 9000 BTU version here, only emptied it once and that was because i wanted to see how much was in it not becuase of the light, about half a pint came out i think after 4 weeks use.

yeah i figured that would have an impact but did not expect such a dramatic result - not having to empty it for at least 4-5 weeks - maybe more - and then three times in three days

Would it be safe to drink? Or would you be drinking other people's honk?

NO it would definitely not be safe to drink.
The moisture condensated out from the atmosphere is one thing, but water that has been sitting in a hot tank for days .... that's another.

as mentiond it depends on how humid it is, the more humid it is the more water will collect in the tank.

I emptied mine after a comple of weeks and there hasnt been much water in it, other times ive emptied it each week and theres been loads of water in it.
