Hello all.

My ASUS ROG ASTRAL 5080 OC arrived today but it won't output a display however all the RGB lights come on, its firmly seated and the power plug is connected. My ASUS TUF 4070 Ti SUPER OC works fine. What could the problem be??

My specs are:

Core i9 9900KS CPU
ASUS ROG Maximus 11 Hero Z390 mobo
32GB RAM
1050W PSU

I can't see it being a compatibility issue because PCIe is backwards compatible and my PSU wattage exceeds the recommended PSU wattage for the card.

Please help I spent a fortune on this card :(

Sorry but why did you upgrade from a 4070ti to a 5080 with a 9900ks? It would be bottlenecked, esp with pcie 3.0 and I doubt you'd see a difference tbh. I would return it as faulty and keep the 4070ti if you still have it.

First thing I'd upgrade is the processor and motherboard then gpu.

Update your bios (doubt its this).
try re-seat the gpu.
if the card has dual bios, try switch to the other bios (will be a small physical switch somewhere on the card)

double check power cables are 100% in

try it in a different pc

if not its Dead on arrival.

re-seat the card.
check the 12pvh connector.
PCI ex clip locket at the top
reset your bios

Also, try changing Bios PCIE slot to 'Gen 3' instead of 'Auto'

Ok so my friend tried it in his PC using a riser card because it wouldn't fit and it worked which means it not faulty. His PC uses PCIEe gen 3 as well as mine so it can't be anything to do with compatibility. Yeah I'll try changing the PCIe version to gen 3 in BIOS. Ill keep you guys posted. Cheers.

When I got my ZOTAC 5090 solid, I had the same issues, card lighting up but no output on monitors. Tried loads of things, eventually using the onboard graphics on my cpu to connect a monitor and downloaded graphics driver from ZOTAC website and got it working. All drivers were up to date from the NVIDIA app but the one on the ZOTAC site seemed to kick it into gear.

There are lots of people having problems with Z390 and Z490 chipsets with 5000 series GPUs
They don't seem to like each other

Same for me.

I've got it working now!! :). I forced PCIe gen 3 in BIOS, swapped the GPU power cable, and reseated it. And it all worked :) I was very close to getting a refund. Now I can sell my 4070 Ti SUPER and build my 9950X3D rig
:) Thanks for all your help guys!
