My bedroom setup, for those that think a projector setup has to be expensive.

Thought I'd post a few pics from my student digs. Very small room to work with but everything's in now and working. Its mostly 'budget' stuff but nevertheless, does a great job for me!

Desk
Hanns-G 28" + Dell 2001FP in portrait.

AV 'rack' (£18 from Argos, kthx!)

Sanyo PLV-Z3 on projection duties. Purchased from these very forums over a year ago now for the princely sum of £330. One oh my best buys ever i think!

Ikea Tupplur on screen duty. This is the smallest i've had my projector set up, Ikea have stopped making 2m blinds so had to stump for a 1.8m. Its hanging on funky home made brackets to pull it away from the wall.

Quick shot of the speakers minus the covers. Eltax Millenium 500's. Bought by me in mid-teens because they were big. To be fair, they're surprisingly good and the bass they chuck out is incredible. Luckily my room is solid breeze block and concrete floor so i havent rattled everything to death yet.

7ft Pool Table
40" 1080p Samsung at the other end. Much fun.

like the vertical sofa! :D

Yeah it makes for some interesting moments.
It was just being stored in there while one of the bedrooms was being re-carpeted.

I think we have to be the luckiest students outside of London to have this house. We certainly pay for it though!

OP is obviously single, no girlfriend who allow a pool table in the lounge lol :p

NICE dig for uni, all i had was a 14" panasonic TV, which later moved to a 20" WS TFT and i thought that was the dog's.

Pool table comes with the house. No girlfriend but I do live with 7 girls, who do you think put the baubles up :p.

So that's where our taxes go, damn students :p

Very nice, and I wish I had that when I was a student. I had to wait until I got a proper job, then blew it all on a a Kuro. Sigh.

Now I hope the projector is used to wow the frivelous and horny young ladies that study at our fine universities :D

Get some black material strips (1"-2") and give yourself a nice border to the screen. Permanent market might also do the trick, ghetto style.

It should improve the perceived contrast when viewing the projector. :)

I have thought about this. I think I'll get some big velvet strips to go on the walls/ceiling first though.

Tinsel around wall sockets.. smart move!!

I don't know if it's conductive or not but I wouldn't wanna get some strands of it inside my sockets ;).

Edit: Nice setup btw. I had a projector in my student house, but just had it projecting onto the white wall of our living room :).

Nice student room! Puts mine to shame :( I've only got a hand-me-down 28" Sony CRT TV with my home built VGA->RGB Scart cable for ghetto-styleé HTPC ;)

Hey, some of us are surviving on £40 a week for food+booze+clothes+laundry!

I couldn't have afforded all this even with a full time job last summer, lucky git!

Ancient bump for that :/!

OP, good work, never did post first time around. I want a new projector, my current one is too loud and rubbish!
