Hi there,
I'm running on a MSI X58M, Bios version 3.1.

When I first turn on my comp, it makes a series of beep noises at me ( I think detecting USBs? )... then waits for a while before the monitor comes on... then displays the splashscreen...

Before I go and collect all of my BIOS information and take a video of these beeps... is there anyone else who has this problem or knows some simple default settings that I could change to make it faster?
My SSD comes on Monday, so might aswel start tuning the BIOS a bit to make that faster too.

I would go into the bios and click on "optimise defaults". :)

Oh nice, I didn't know there was a new update. Thanks for that nightmare.
I will try the optimise defaults too Vortex.

I just found that one of the problems I had was it was looking for a CD first, so i've disabled that and sorted the boot sequence out which has made it a tad faster.

I've just had another play around and updated the BIOS to the new version.
It has got rid of them horrid beeps on startup which i presume were detecting USB devices.
Is this neccessary at the boot stage?
I do have a USB mouse and keyboard, but is this only used in order for me to access the BIOS?
I have got a normal ( non USB ) mouse and keyboard I can use if any problems ever arise.
The boot is a lot faster now though,.. and with the new update it looks a little nicer.
