Well, I've had the car a week now. Friends have nicknamed her "Beams", with reference to the colour (Arizona Sun) and the badge - I quite like it, and so it's going to stick :p

2000 BMW 330i Sport

Overall, I'm ultra happy with her. She's comfortable and luxurious, wonderful to be in and has the performance to put a smile on my face - the 330 really does seem "the car" for me at this stage of my life :)

Special thanks go to NickXX for the passenger ride in his E46 330D on the RR day, this helped me realise how good a car they are, and especial thanks to [TW]Fox for making the suggestion in the first place. I pretty much owe my spotaneous £7,800 eBay bid, without seeing the car, to them :p

More pics and more detail to follow very shortly (As soon as I install Photoshop, tbh!). The car is in at BMW tommorow to have the camshaft sensors replaced, which should make me even more ecstatic and allow me to feel the true performance of the M54B30 under the bonnet

Yay, another e46 owner!

Looks gorgeous mate, that colour is quite rare. My topaz blue is very nice, but fairly common.

Enjoy! :D

Like I said before - looks fantastic.

That colour just works perfectly with that style Sport kit - and especially with that crazy wing :D.

Nice, but cam sensors? Are they on their way out already?
They were pretty much gone when I got the car, and had been for some time from speaking to the owner. Apparently BMW couldn't find the fault, but the specialist I had look at the car found it in minutes :p

Very nice. You going to keep it standard?
Probably pretty much so, yeah. Only thing on the horizon is a remap, as it's a cheap way to break 250hp, smooth it out even more and perhaps even give me an economy boost!

Looks very nice indeed mate, certainly looks more than you paid :)

You have to do something about the stereo though, what BMW were thinking i have no idea

Looks very nice.. can't wait to see it at the next MM ;)

I didn't think Nick's stereo sounded too bad, in fact, it sounded pretty good for an OEM system to me.

I was going on the fact that the E39 and E38 systems (no reason to think BMW use better systems in the 3's) i have heard have been pretty damn pants. Even my low end seat leon company car has a better system than BMW seem to put in these things :(

I dont get it at all, such amazing cars, but with this strange quirk.

Well, it's got the 10-speaker harmon/kardon system, and I reckon it puts out a pretty good quality of sound. Good bass, good volume and good treble - perfect for my not-really-that-loud listening habits :)

Mine's got a new amp, speakers and a sub ;)

PMKeates has the Harmon Kardon Stereo which sounds great anyway.

The standard business stereo that came with mine is utter pants. I had a Golf Mk5 before and that just blew the BMW system away. Seriously -shockingly bad.

Nice one Sam, i'll sort another Basingstoke Meet soon if you're up for coming round?

Yeah make sure you do. I for one want to see it in the flesh, expecially the interior.

As I said in the other thread, such a great buy you couldn't have done much better :) Love the exterior colour too, a neighbour used to have one that colour and it definitely looks better in the flesh.

Did they not register on the OBD2 port? :)

Well I've just been and had the camshaft sensors replaced by BMW.

If I had to sum up my opinion, now, in four letters and a smiley, it would be:

OMFG

The performance difference is HUGELY noticeable, I got an extra 8mpg on the way home than I did on the way there and it's now a massively better driving experience. I cannot honestly believe how a couple of sensors made so much difference! I just want to drive it and drive it :p

A little bit of an ego caressing went on at the dealership, when a couple of BMW folk made an effort to go and look at my car after the service rep told them about it :p

Very very pleased. Feels like an extra 50hp, no joke!
