first time ive ever built my own but decided to give it a shot :D

blew my old computer up by trying to flash the bios with bios write protection enabled :p here it is,

it was a Athlon 64 x2 3800+ with a 7600gt :D served me well but I didnt half give it a whack when i ballsed it up

so got up this morning and popped up to OCuK, hour and half there, hour and half back. could have got it delivered but didnt want to risk it plus im an impatient git :D Was a very nice BWM parked in the car park (wonder who that belongs to? :p )

Picked up my stuff and paid for it, ouch.

got everything home and unwrapped it from the shrink wrap. It amazes me that with all the anti static measures required they wrap it in stuff that is so full of the blody stuff I was spitting sparks

any way heres the obligatory box shot

so got it all unpacked and pulled the case out, jesus that things big.

started to prepare the mobo, everything going well so far. somethings bound to go wrong tho isnt it :D

got the mobo in the case and installed the cooler

next up put the soundcard and gfx in. oh fudge the cooler fouls the first pci slot so cant put the sound card in there, so it goes in the second slot, ah crap now the gfx wont fit in the first pci-e slot, quick trip to the forums to check its ok to put them in the second slots and all is good :D

Everything powers up ... WOOOOOT, uh oh wait a minute no display!!! panic stations, eeek theres a red light on the mobo whats that mean?!?!?! frantically scanning the mobo manual it means theres a ram problem, what could it be, tried the mem ok feature 9-10 time still nothing. getting ready to smash something now!! ok check all power cables, all looks good, take out soundcard and try gfx in 1st slot, still nothing.

A whole hour trying to work it out, ok time to strip it down to basics. hang on one last check of the mobo manual, hmmmm whats this? the first ram slot on the board isnt the first ram slot you should use, oh ffs what a doofus am i!

swap the ram slots and fire her up. WE HAVE LIFE!!!

ok lets install windows, gets to 15% thru and blue screen, ok restart, cannot find bootmanager, ok restart, cannot find setup files, getting ready to bin it all now lol, ok lets see what could it be, its getting 15% thru then stopping, is the disk scratched? Nope, is the HDD fudged? Nope, Loose SATA cable? YEP :D sorted installed within 15 minutes after that :D

running nicely atm :D so there it is :D
