Moothead2 I'm guessing he didn't game because his computer couldn't handle it. It might be a situation like mine, I love to game but just can't play anything smootly on my laptop except for games for spider solitaire.

Does anyone know why MSI Afterburner only says 6 or 20 fps most of the time.

well the 480 is really because the pc is hooked to a 50" on the wall to watch movies etc i know its a bit of overkill , as u can probably see from my sig my current toy is very capable of playing the lates games, i have a PS3 which also doesnt get much daylight unless im testing out some cfw xD

oh btw this is my first build log should i bother with unboxing pics etc? or am i being extra xD

OP by any chance do you any video encoding and stuff as I've noticed you've picked the 970 over the sandybridge system.

yuh i do a bit of encoding on the odd occasion , i also run sql db etc for irc "bots" the machine is never switched off i also run apache etc for local testing

i dont think i have a good reason for going for the 970 other then future proofing oh and the 6 cores xD

ewwwww nasty leccy bills will be coming your way.

I used to run several servers at home ... Now I run everything including LAMP, sabnzbplus, torrentflux, sickbeard and development j2ee stacks off the HTPC in my sig.

Damn ur HTPC looks verynice,(id be interested in buildingone for the front room)

but yuh bills are already high running this machine and server in another room but iv got used to it over the years haha :)

so a litle update everything installed yesterday but ...... the H80 is dead spins up the fans for a second or 2 and dies, have been informed by Corsair to RMA it back to where i bought it or back to them, as i cant be around to wait for the post man i will need to head back to a shop in totenham court road to RMA it next satuurday, i will add some pics later of the build but keep iin mind its not up and running due to this (i have got the stoc cooler but im not going to bother installing that ill just have to wait)
