What do you think?

I'm a little nervous about buying the Asus motherboard since people have had problems. But I don't plan to overclock this CPU for a few months as I'm not experienced with this.

If I don't mess with anything and just use the stock CPU speed, I shouldn't have any problems with the Asus board for now?

Or shouldn't I buy the Asus? The bundle is a great price with the i5 2500k but if there's a better/more reliable motherboard for around £110 then please tell me!

I've got and had Asus mobo's in the past and not had any issues what so ever.

However, i would either go for the EVGA or Gigabyte board next time.

Depends if you can stretch your budget.

What is your overal budget for your new build?

To be honest I'm already pushing my budget to it's limits. I've been comparing components all week.

I think everything in the basket now is good, it's just the motherboard I'm a bit skeptical about.

The only other motherboards around my price range are the Gigabyte P67A-UD3 Intel P67 and MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67, it's between these two and the Asus.

I would like some opinons/advice before I purchase the Asus motherboard. I'll be honest, I probably won't overclock this CPU for a while. But the Asus seems to have the best features and overclocking capability, it's just I've read a lot of topics about people's motherboards dying/not working.

This is my first build so I would prefer a stable motherboard with decent OC, is there one around £110?

What are you planning to do with this build? If you're planning to game then the 2TB 'Eco' HDD isn't as good for gaming as others. You'd be better off with a 'Black' or even Samsung F1 1TB (Think that's the name)

Mixture of playing games (black ops etc) and watching HD films.

I just like the fact that I probably won't run out of space with a 2TB HDD.

I'll think I'll just buy the Asus motherboard. The PSU I have chosen is ok though right?

Don't put the Foxconn down, its a great little board, does everything the ASUS does and a bit more. If you add a 2nd graphics card to the ASUS P8P67-LE then the cards will run at 16x/4x.

The chosen PSU will be ok for the system you have selected, but has little in the way of "future proofing". It won't power another card, and better cards sometime require up to 600W of power.

As for your HDD - it will be quite slow on loading times. But if your saving/ripping HD movies to disc you'll need a lot of space. I'd recommend 2x Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB but that will push your price up.

Ah, it's F3... that's what I was thinking of :) at £41 each it's only £20 more than the 2TB and you have the benefit of being able to set them up in RAID for some backup of your bits and bobs if you need.

Why are you going for such an expensive DVD RW, whats wrong with an OEM version? Does the same job!

Save £15 there and put it towards 2x Samsung F3 500GB's. You could RAID them as mentioned or run OS & applications on one and have the other for your video editing etc.

Also following on from you other thread in the graphics card section, are you sticking with your low resolution monitor?

Just thought it is worth the mention, althought the 460 768Mb version is cheaper, it not only has less vram (which isnt really that big of a deal) but also has a lower memory bandwidth, so you would get better performance from the 1Gb version.

For now I am yeah, but I've looked at some monitors and there are some decent 21.5 inch HD monitors for around £100, so I'll look at that in the future.

Can't really afford to buy that one right now!

@ stulid - as long as the PSU I've chosen will do the job then I don't mind, that PSU is quite expensive.
