Hi, I have no illusions about my photographic skills but I'm always learning.
Love the IR stuff that's been done on here previously and I have a canon...which I thought as a hindrance for IR... so I set out to prove that I could do it, and I think they work after a fashion.
Thanks for the tips about white balance etc so freely given, it makes the whole process work.

anyway the light was fantastic and so I thought I'd mosey out and enjoy the sunshine in Nottingham
Thought I'd try some tracking shots too on the local wildlife. Honestly, they're not as sharp as others on here recently but it's something I'll work on.

Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone, I always find this forum an interesting read.

I'm liking the tones on the IR shots :D
Have you considered swopping the R & B channels to give the sky a less deathly look?

Focusing properly for IR takes a while to get the hang of - you are making focus adjustments after AF, yeah?

You need to focus a touch closer than the AF will when shooting IR. Some lenses have markings for this, which make it easy, but most don't these days. It's just a matter of getting to know your lenses.

Also my personal preference is to (assuming you have a stable tripod) stop down the lens (for DoF) and sit in for the long haul. 10s, 30s, 70s - these are all shutter speeds I often use for IR.

edit : but if there's even a touch of wind, then you'll get blur on things like trees etc...

I'm interested, was this the river Trent? (If so brave man walking around there!)

Nice shots by the way! Favourites are 6 and 7 for sure.

Looking good. Just had a quick fiddle in potatoshop, just applying the standard IR post processing and it looks pretty nice :)

thanks for the advice,
the chan swap makes it look very wintery, somewhere in between might be good, will have a look and see what contrast I can get out of the sky

and yes it was the river trent, near the wilford bridge.
I don't notice anything scary about it tbh
