Went to the gym early this morning and found my car door open! The car is an old S reg saxo. Which from reading on the internet are very easy to break in to. It looks like they were looking for the front to the stereo which wasnt there.

They have taken my fake ray ban sunglasses though!

The problem is that I now have a big hole in the passanger side door next to the lock. The car is now very easy to break in to. Infact getting in with the key is now probably more time consuming.

What I would like to do is get two big thick pieces of iron and have them welded round where the locks are. I know that would make a mess of the paint but the car only cost 500 pounds and I intend on running it in the ground for it's final years. Has anybody had this done is it possible?

yeh im pretty sure its a std mod for a saxo to get them delocked for this simple reason.

sorry to hear about it though :(

Jon

Those fake ray bans cost me 1.50 in Bulgaria! lol

I have come to the decision to sell the car. Just tried to park it on the drive (quite steap) and the hand break is knacked. It has been slipping for a while but now it just doesn't do anything. The engine cuts out at random moments and it is burning oil faster than I can put it in. And I hate not having power stearing!!

Any offers?

I am raiding my savings account so have about 3 grand to spend at the car auction. I'll let you know what I end up with :-) Any money from the saxo will be spent on a new hard disk or two.

Seconded. Read the sticky some information on buying at auctions there and also there was a thread a few weeks back about going to auctions have a search for it.

Should be fine my dad has bought loads of cars at auction and knows most of the staff there and quite a bit about cars. Pretty much all of the family cars have come from auction with no problems. This saxo came from the auction as well.

Well the car is getting sold as it's in a bit of a state (see blown head gasket thread). The next car is going to have an alarm fitted. I want to get an insurance approved one (who wouldn't). I know absolutly nothing about alarms but want one that beeps if you go near it (proxy sensor?) and an imobiliser.

Anybody know anything about alarms? How much would it bring my insurance down?
