Sorry guys this is a direct paste from another forum, but i figured i wanted to share this here too. Bunch of people here have helped me out a lot so is only fair to show the progress!

This is going slowly at the moment, i've put it on hold for the next 4 weeks but should continue after that so bear with me! Note - im not taking this jeep to South of France anymore, hence waiting until i return before continuing.

Ok finally i've moved from discussion over in the PC threads to Doing in reality, and i'm gonna post my progress here.

I'm hoping to take the Jeep to South France in 4 weeks, so that really is my deadline for doing everything. Not just the Car PC, but the whole car! it's not even roadworthy atm! That's a whole different forum though! :P

SO. I guess it's all about pictures eh? Well i dont have many so i'll give you what i've got then paste more as we go along. I'm also going to be asking tonnes of questions as we go along cause i really have nfi what im doing. Im literally making it up as i go along.

Ok. So it all started About 2 weeks ago when i got a hardon for a touchscreen in my car. Me being me, i wanted to try something new. I've never done any work in or on a car so i decided to go with an In Car PC. Moron.

Anyway, i made a quick design for a PC (based on knowledge of desktops) and came up with this:

Then i confirmed with guys on this (digital-car.co.uk) forum what to buy, and this arrived through my door 3 days later

So i fiddled around up at B+Q buying tools and stuff. Holesaws and other such malarky. Then tonight, i went and built this. Now before judging, please consider, never in my life have i ever built anything with wood. I broke into my father's garage and stole his tools, which ive never used, and i only made myself bleed once. Here are the results:

Not too shabby i'd say! That's progress for now.

its 3rd of August and i'm still awaiting:
4x 120mm Chrome Fan Guards and a Zalman Harddrive cage from Overclockers
1x 80gb SATA 2.5" Fujistu HDD from Overclockers
1x Grey Triming Carpet from CarAudioDirect (after some hiccups)
4x 120mm Yate Loon fans from <competitor>

Remaining:
Find someone to wire this stuff in (bloke up the road does it apparently).
Confirm i dont need to spend anymore cash (girlfriend is going mental)

Updates soon!

-----------

Well my Carpet has arrived and i've made an attempt to fabricate the top of the box. It's actually really good but i cant decide if i should bolt the box together before i carpet or not. Any idea's? :)
