Definetly get rid of those beigh drives, black would look so much better... Haven't seen a floppy drive in a new PC for ages, are they really needed nowadays.

I know most modern pc's don;t have floppy drives but when yu get an assignment at uni stating that code or whatever must be handed in on a floppy disk then it is a bit difficult if you don;t ahve one and in any case it comes in usefull now and again for file transfer. Such as to Win 98 pc's who don;t have the drivers for usb sticks yet.

I tend to turn my pc off at night so that is no problem.

Personnaly I would get some black spray paint for the drives, just be careful you don't damage them by getting spray into them.

As for the lights I'd hook them up to a simple switch so you can turn them on and off.

The spraying for the beige drives will be done sometime but just have not had time currently.

The two sets of cathodes I ahve in there are linked to a switch at the back of the pc whcih can turn those on and off but I can't do anything to the leds in the fans. And anyway, why ahve lights in a pc if you don;t have them switched on and as i said before I turn the pc off at night 99.9% of the time so having the lights on is no big deal and if i do leave it on to download a big file then it bathes the room in a nice blue glow anyway!

Thanks

Neil

I sometimes have work to do on floppy and I bought an external floppy drive for that purpose, only cost £15 which was a bargain.. The benifits of an external floppy drive I have found is that frees up space inside my PC and its less wires and connectors than an internal drive (Improved air flow), plus when you are not using it can be put away... Apart from that... you have built a nice PC M8..;)
