Well, as I posted a while back with my faulty engine, I got hold of a 45K mile engine and its finally been put in :)

Who would have thought there would be oil in the transmission? ;)

There appears to be something missing...

Oh, here it is

Gearboxes are held on pretty firm these days

Well, here is what caused the overheating problems in my old engine

New engine with downpipe attached

Turbo outlets are also handy pizza dip holder...

And we checked the belts on the new engine, seemed fine on the pallet but as everything had been manhandled around a bolt had gotten loose and done this... (we wondered why the car wasn't starting and backfiring...)

Thankfully the timing was out on the engine but there was no damage and the belt stayed intact! On the pallet the WHOLE belt was fine as we checked it. Suffice to say a LOT of threadlock has been used on this new engine ;)

Anyway, it was about 3am when we finished on saturday...

And I couldn't be bothered with the camera till the new engine was in and being filled :) (About 4pm sunday)

Oh, and I fitted the WRC skirts and spats

Now car feels and sounds so much better, the timing is spot on and the downpipe has made a world of difference on the 3S-GTE. Tis a noisy thing now ;)

I've decided not to boost over 1 BAR on this new engine. Meant to be able to take 1.1-1.2 on these engines but there is no way i'm going through this again ;)

The engine itself is small, the amount of stuff bolted onto it however isn't

and its flippin' heavy!

 Is that the cambelt?!?! ****!

I know how it feels to be crawling around under the car in a pool of gearbox oil... :(

That was mid-sentence... telling my Dad (taking the picture) how much I hate my car :D

What boost were you running on the old engine that caused it to go?

It's only through days like this that you will one day look back and appreciate the simplicity of a standard car :)

Good work though fella, looks like a real mission. Glad it ended with success
