My Cheap Conroe Build

Hello People

I built my conroe 6600 rig yesterday. I managed to get this config for £350inc. vat & dly from a competitor:

Intel Conroe 6600 Retail + Asrock Conroe 945G-DVI Motherboard + 1GB Kingston DDR2 667 Memory.

I thought i will go with something cheap for now, until DFI bring out a Lanparty version for this platform. My stepping is: 6 - B2, L628; Does anyone have this stepping & how does it overclock ?

I have done some pics of my rig, so will post soon. After installing on the gubbings, let's see how fast it installs winxp pro; It took me 15min to quick format and install winxp sp2, when usually on my x2 4800+ it takes around 20-25mins.

I haven't overclocked this baby yet! But will do soon, then post up some piccys.

I have the same stepping - 3 ghz @ 1.3v, 3.25 @ 1.35, 3.6@ 1.525, 3.7ghz @ 1.58v - With P5WDH dlx - watercooled.

this is what i have acheived so far with an asrock board:

Chances are you won't have the FSB headroom to max the E6600 in that board. You'll need well over 400mhz to really push the chip - thats assuming a cooling upgrade.

Have the same week chip as that, 3.97ghz 1.575v under water so far, limited by vcore on the P5B vanilla

Nice work, keep us posted with how it Overclocks, although the board limits the CPU it will be still be a good rig.

Thats why im waiting for a Socket 775 DFI Lanparty Board to be realeased.
