is going to get nuked from orbit in 10 seconds!!!!

Its become super stupid noisey!!

lan party SLI-D motherboard and standard fan.

What can i replace it with and i'd rather it not be passive...?

Non passive

Akasa AK-210 Blue LED Chipset Cooler (HS-026-AK)

Pretty bog standard chipset cooler,

or....

Zalman ZM-NBF47 Fanless Northbridge Cooler (HS-023-ZA)

But have to watch graphics card clearance.

In most cases the passive cooler is as good as an actively cooled chipset with the right airflow through the case.

I bought myself one of the Jing Tings, had to get it shipped over from the US, but it was deffinately worth it!

I've got a DFI Ultra-D and the stock cooler on the northbridge was very noisey, especially in the summer. It would keep the temps around 50C but kept spinning up to full speed and bugging me.

The Jing Ting is a damn sight quieter, pretty much silent and my chipset temps never go over 40C now. :)

This evening I took my nF4 SLI-DR chipset cooler off. The factory paste had dried and come away from the chip causing it to overheat.

A complete removal of the old paste with TIM-cleaner, sanded down the back of the chipset HSF to be smooth, cleaned it then applied AS5.

The temps are now a steady 43degC idle and 46degC under load. Whereas before it would be 46-48 idle but would cause lock ups.

cpu 30degC, pwmic 34degC and chipset 43degC.

Evercool vc-re worked a treat on mine and can be had for under £10 also it was really quiet and easy to fit as well as dropping the temp by a good bit.

Another vote for for the Evercool solution. Really quiet. I have a Zalman Fan Mate on mine at its lowest setting, the fan is silent.

Cheap and effective solution.

are these any higher then the stock fan on the sli-d do you know?

my 7900gs just goes over the stock fan but then the stock fan is kinda wide in design..
