So I decided to give my computer an upgrade, I put a new asrock 990fx extreme 3 in it, a new 8 core amd 3.5ghz processor and new nzxt 530 case, worked great first couple of days. Last night I was watching a film and all of a sudden both monitors go black as if the computer has turned off even tho all leds are still on, fans still running nothing changed as far as I can tell, the computer also wouldn't turn off by holding the power button. I've checked the power to the monitors there all fine I checked the dvi cables all ok, as far as I can see there's no hardware problems at all, but today I turned it on for an hour and then the same problem happens but I left it just on black screen and what's happening is its rebooting itself I have no idea what to do, I can't reset the cmos because the mobo has no battery on it as far as I can see..
If you need any more info please ask and ill tell you what ever I can

Lets start with a full spec including brand / output of the power supply.

Also, your motherboard does have a battery - it's close to the GPU socket

What CPU are you running? If its the 8320 (or 8350) you may need a BIOS update..

The CMOS is below the PCI-E slot (top one).

What GPU are you running?

How hot does the CPU/GPU run when playing games?

What OS are you running and what montiroing software do you use?

Full specs are
cpu is an 8320
psu is a ocz 600w
ram is g skill rip jaw 2 4gb
mobo is asrock 990fx extreme 3
gps is r7 290x sapphire
that's why I can't see the battery because my house is covering it silly old me, I've just managed to get onto windows and I can see in system restore that i installed a windows update yesterday and nothing else after and that's when it's started going wrong, I've restored to before that so ill see what happens and check back in, probably won't be till after work which is in 30 minutes

Did you reinstall Windows after the motherboard upgrade? I'm going to guess you didn't.

My advice is to format and reinstall. There are steps you can take to get rid of old drivers and install new ones but in my experience it's easier to just start again.

That might be the issue.

Have you removed the old chipset drivers and reinstalled new ones? I'm again going to guess no.

These Two pages might as to what needs to be done to upgrade.

Ima gonna try format it and reinstall windows just thinking weather itd be worth setting up raid 0 while I'm there. .. do have to format all 4 drives to do that?

Get Windows working first to rule out other hardware problems before thinking about RAID
