My computer has died, need new PSU that will fit Lian Li PC-7 Plus case. I am going to upgrade in around 6 months and will have 1 GFX, some new fast cpu etc, 2 hdd, 2 usb hdd, sound card and some other usb devices therefore I am unsure what power to go for. It'll be gaming pc.

I think my PSU died even though I am not 100% sure. My pc was working just fine for the last few years, I used it all day yesterday and this morning when I switched it on it just switches itself on and off few times and then does nothing. No display at all on monitor.

All I get is spinning fans for 1 sec then few seconds break, then again spinning fans but for longer and then break again and then spinning fans even longer (most of the time). It is very inconsistent, and at some points it looked like it was going to stay on but after like 7-8 seconds it switched itself off.

I can see that the PSU switches itself off (including the light inside) every time the fans stop spinning.

I tried unplugging everything but it didint help, I've tried different GFX but same story, I have one of those Hiper modular PSU that used to be common to blow, I've had it now for about 3 years.

Do you think it's worth upgrading PSU and then take it from there? I need a new PSU anyway as I am going to upgrade in the next 6-12 months anyway.

I need a PSU that will fit Lion Li PC-7 Plus case.

My current speck:
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
PC7-PLUS case
4gb memory
8800GT
C2D 2.4ghz
Creative sound card

I haven't got a budget but will spend whatever is needed (would prefer around £100 max if possible).

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I'm looking at Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXUK) [CMPSU-750TXUK]

Should be enough to last me for many years to come and my planned upgrade.

Does Corsair do RMA within UK?

I remember long time ago I used to have an Antec (I think) PSU and when it broke I had to post to to germany and the cheapest delivery was over £20 at that time which was a nightmare.

Corsair is always a safe bet. And I would be very surprised if they didn't do UK RMA.

Well it appears that you gotta send PSU to Netherlands if you RMA with Corsair but you get 5 years warranty with it which is nice imo. But postage about £20 minimum. I think I might take this risk.

I have tested now computer with another 350W cheap PSU and computer booted fine, but I won't use it as its kinda an open PSU I recovered from a fancy case I bought many years ago.

Check the picture :)

I was scared to even use it at first :D:D:D

I can confirm that RMA's for Corsair go to the Netherlands, recently did it myself. You pay postage etc to send only. I sent just the bare bones PSU (modular) and recieved a complete brand new and boxed replacement within 10 days.

I am going to order a 650W Corsair PSU then tomorrow unless someone will come with some other recommendation. This will have to last me to my future upgrade which will be an overclocked bundle from ocuk in about 4-6 months I think. I don't know yet what will I be getting as my budget will be around £500-600 and I will buy what will be available at that time.
