My computer just blew up...

Ok so it went bang, and the psu had some flashes come out of it :eek:

The burning smell has gone now though, but obviously it's all dead.

Is it likely that this has wiped out everything in the machine? (i have no easy way of checking, as its my only pc). If it has, then i need suggestions for kit for a cheap and very quiet media pc!

Aye psu is blown, try another psu before hastily buying a whole new rig, see if you can borrow one off somebody or something.

or buy one from peecee globe or whatever its called just to test then return it for a refund

I hit a USB storage key with the end of the hoover a couple of years ago and had an enormous flash from my PSU and upon replacing it all was fine (apart from the broken USB connector on the front of my case) and the voltage from that "short" must have gone right across my motherboard, no harm done.
