my computer problems

okay so i go into my computer and all my icons a grouped together.

i group by TYPE, but to no avail. they arent as before, *** is the grouping?

i dont know how they were sorted (the default sorting)

Afraid I don't have a clue as I don't think I've ever seen your desktop. For what it's worth, I don't have sorting applied to mine... I don't like taking orders from a machine - I like to be in control of where they go.

lol, so you want it as documents at the top, then hdd, then cd etc?

Under type it says show in groups you click that? if there all grouped together is probably ticked as auto arrange?

SimonC thats what i meant.

i ticked that, but all the removable media is togther, like CDs and Card reader.

any way to separate that?

and for some reason i cant untick Auto arrange.

i am on vista BTW

'Group by' 'type' is how I have it in virtualbox then it shows as hdd at the top with cd and floppy and the bottom.

aye i have dont that.

and they are in groups, just that the CD/DVD drives and the Car reader /USBs are in the same group (removable storage) so is there a way of splitting them up?
