Right now I decided to break (crash even :( ) my old escort and now have a courtsey car for 3 weeks now i've done enough to warrant a second tank fill @ tesco and I've worked out thats it does;

18.6 MPG, I mean WTF OMG how the hell can a 1.2 thing drink that much ?! :mad:

Just wondering how much should it be doing ?

Also why does it feel so unstable at more than 60mph I can hear the wind, my 10yr old escort was better! And the CD player skips :( and the car seats dont fit it well and why is the seat belt 3 miles behind you, I have long arms and still cant reach it

Bah I HATE corsas

Anyway what should it be doing per gallon and how do i make it more efficent?

Replace it with another car? Less right foot? Change out of 3rd gear?

To be honest, could probably do with a little more information on the type of driving that you're doing.....

dual carriage ways + lots of rounderboats

I drive a little aggresivily but no more than in my escort and that managed 40+ mpg

I thrash the pants off my clio and it still returns 43mpg, something other than the normal serious problems is wrong with that corsa, or you need to retake GCSE maths ;)

yeah pretty sure;

135 miles
32.5 litres /4.45 = 7.3 gallons

135 / 7.3 = 18.49... = 18.5 mpg

And i filled it before this so it was right at the top..

i seriously doubt you can thrash it and get a mpg that high. in fact 43mpg is more than it should do without thrashing it!!! let me drive it and i'll show you it doing 20-25mpg....

Well i will prove you wrong come 19th next month, just for you i will reset my trip computer, thrash it around infront of 20 ocuk members for the day and then take a picture just for you.

I'd mention this to the hire/courtesy car people - give them a ring ASAP and see what they say. If there's something mechanically wrong with the car, which is causing it to drink petrol at double the normal rate - you could well end up £50 of £60 down, which obviously isn't good.

Our 1.4 micra averages 50mpg and I have that above 5k revs in all gears on a regular basis. What size engine is the corsa

So the tank was full when you got it, to the brim ? You did 135 miles and filled it to the brim again with 32.5 litres. Average it out on your next fillup and see then

It was half full when i got it I then filed it to the brim and now have again filled it to the brim..

Its only a 1.2 and doesnt accelerate much above 85

put a tenner(2gallons) in it when the warning light comes on. a proper thrash, means proper, redlining constantly, not using 5th gear and staying on the high side of 3500-6500rpm.

p.s. find a back road, you'll get pigged driving like that in a populated area lol :D

pps, let lopez drive it, im sure he'll be able to hit 25mpg :P
