My CPU has been overclock to 3200mhz but is running on such a low v core.

Hi,
my system is: Intel E5200 Overclocked to 3.2GHZ
Asus P5QL PRO
Corsair DDR2 800 Ram O'C to 854
HIS ATi HD 4670 1GB GDDR3 O'C to 850 , 930#
Corsair VX 450w PCU

What the issue is that when i overclock the above, I did some research and it said my stock voltage was 1.2, so i overclocked using 256 x 12.5 giving me the 3.2 set the vcore to 1.2 (reed that you can go to about 3.2ghz on stock voltage) and run prime95 for about 6hrs + 3dmark06 4 times, with not 1 crash, fail.

Most would say so what are you worried about! well after a bit more research i found that other people with same cpu use a vcore of of about 1.34! to archive 3.2!
The software included with my board came with a voltage meter, and it say my vcore is only 1.18v and when i load a game the voltage lowers to 1.17v so whats with that?

I play games maxed out for hours on end with no blue screens so i guess im asking if others think this is ok or should i up the vcore abit.

can include images of what i mean, just ask.

Many thanks

If its stable its fine mate, just sounds like you have a nice chip compared to the rest!

Had a Q9650 which stock volts was 1.2375v for 3ghz, but was stable at 4ghz using just 1.216v

OK, i could not believe that my idle temp on a stock cooler is 23'c and after 6hrs of prime95 temp never went over 46'c.

I might overclock this chip abit more if thats the case, not sure what to yet, ?

There's no way those temps are core readings, you should download core temp to see what the real temps are.

OK, off everest my my 2 core temps 29'c and 31'c but the main cpu temp reading says 23'c.

I built the system to run cool with a total of 7 fans (including cpu, pcu etc) so prob has a lot to do with it.
HIS HD 4670 runs really cool too, according to ati overdrive idle temp is around 33'c and after 1hr of NFS shift is about 44'c

I have that cpu now ;):D

And it is indeed a gem of a cpu (see sig) ;)

What I worry about more than CPU temps when OCing is the MCP temp. Mine should be at 1333MHz but to get 3.2GHz I have mine at 1600MHz, which runs at about 50C+ according to the BIOS (no idea how accurate that is). I would try for 3.5GHz but I fear my MCP would run too hot. i haven have the little nvidia fan running at about 80% (anything higher is just too damn loud!). How can I push clocks further short of water cooling? Or is 50-60C on the MCP nothing to worry about (I will worry even if you tell me it's fine haha)?

Also, slight OT, but I've very slightly OC'd my RAM. My 6gb PC2-6400 is running at 812Mhz (1624) at 4-4-4-15 2T @2.1V. Is that OK?

26, you? Sorry everyone; slighty off topic.:D

RoEy

Tell me about it i come on this forum to get advice on me cpu n the next thing im finding other Roe's. what ever next ,lol! Im 24 n just starting to get into computer's this is my first proper build, spent about 3 days researching and learning to overclock before i would even dare go into the bio's, scary stuff! Lol:confused:
