this is the first time ive started to look into all this sort of stuff so its unknown to me if things are what they should be.

I hit validate on cpu-z 10minutes into running prime95 torture test so the 4 cores wer on 100% load at the time. the 950 is @ stock clocks.

its only my 2nd build and the 1st was 6years ago lol so im learning new stuff this time around :D

how does it look guys?

Hey, just built up a system for the first time in about 5 years myself so i know the feeling :)

I don't know much about Intel's settings unfortunately but it seems to make sense.
What memory do you have?

PC3-12800 C7?
If so its the same as mine, looked familiar to me lol.
Not sure how much of a difference triple channel makes but it looks to me like the xmp profile is not enabled which would bring them to the factory setting of 800Mhz (each) instead of 533Mhz.

Although if they are rated at 1600Mhz like my dual channel (800Mhz each) then the 533Mhz triple will equal 1600 rating.

I assume the mobo allows for memory with that xmp, even if it does they tend to need adjusting to factory standard settings so worth investigating :)

wer do i check to see if the xmp profile is enabled? is it just a matter of selecting enable if its not turned on?

or would the ram be under clocked because its not in use like the way cpus clock down?

Ram dosent underclock as far as I know.
In the bios there might be a setting for it, although I had to set my timings, voltage and frequency manually I have heard people just saying to enable the xmp profile.

ok ill have a look

no thats not my ram, mine is the normal viper ram, thats the sector 7 version. Although when i looked at the timings on mine vs the sector 7 they wer the same. I think sector 7 is just my ram specs but diffrence colour and different heat sinks, basically a reworked cooler version maybe? im not 100% tho

The ram is running at 1066mhz (533 x 2) due to the multiplier being used by the motherboard, all memory will revert to this speed when you don't mess with the memory multi, and everything is stock speeds.

If you go into the bios, then into the AI Tweaker section.

You will then see at the top of the list Ai Overclock tuner, hit enter and chose XMP, then choose which speed from the drop down list, depending on how many XMP profiles the memory has, there may be 1,2,3 to choose from.

Choose the 1600mhz option, press enter, then press F10 to save bios and exit. Reboot, let it go into windows and then check in cpu-z what the memory tab says (not the spd tab).

If all worked well the memory should be showing as 800mhz (x2 = 1600mhz).

Hope this helps.

WOW LOL i crapped myself when i hit save & exit,,, the pc shutdown in a flash i though it was DEAD. it started up by itself after applying the new settings i guess and the ram has changed to

RAM : 6144 MB DDR3 Triple Channel
RAM Speed : 801.8 MHz (2:12) @ 8-8-8-24

looks like it worked bifday :D nice 1 m8 cheers!

^^ what he said (edit: sorry bifday's post above). XMP will be good for now, but when you get into overclocking your CPU, you'll eventually probably want to take manual control of your RAM settings. XMP is like an auto-overclock for RAM.

No probs, glad to help, yeh very first time i started tweaking stuff years ago, well when i first dared to enter the bios, i craped myself as well thinking oh great iv broken it lol, certainly does make the heart beat a bit faster the first time.

Enjoy your new memory speeds.
