My CRT = Blurry

So I plugged in my CRT and its really blurry, its been like this for a while, my mates CRT is the same.
Why is it blurry? adjusting the settings kind of sorts it out but then its really dark and I can't see much anyway..... I have to get right up close to the screen to read text.
Its not my eyes surely because I can see fine on my bro's tft flat panel...... :confused:

Can you take a photo an show us? And when I say photo, I don't mean a screenshot taken with PrintScreen, and also not with a 1 megapixel camera phone.
I suppose it is possible the guns are out of allignment, but seeing it will make it easier to help .

Have you tried degausing it? I can't imagine it would make a difference, but you never know!

Other than that, the monitor could have been banged around and the internals mucked up like Watcher suggested. If that's the case, it is probably a repair shop job, though I'm not certain that it's possible to repair them internally. But try degausing it first, checking all the connections etc. (though I would assume that's one of the first things you did!)

when this happened i had to open up my monitor and adjust the internal potetiometers.

Honestly? buy a new monitor. What better excuse could you need. A blurry CRT will be straining your eyes.

My old CRT ended up the same, a bit blury and milky, I put it down to ageing tube.

Honestly, Im only using this for a few days while im back home, I got a proper screen at uni.
