Hi, have not done any overclocking since i had my p2 350mhz running at 400mhz and my geforce 2 overclocked (woot woot, yeah i know a long time ago)

I recently upgraded from a 3.2ghz p4 to the following:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA1065)
Thermalright SI-128 CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/LGA755)
Noctua NF-S12 1200RPM 120mm Silent Case Fan - 3 Pin
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)
OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

I have upped the cpu fsb to 312 (have not changed voltage or anything) and have my system running at 2.8ghz, I dont think the ram is running at the correct speed, have posted a screenshot can someone let me know if they see anything wrong with the info i post.

also what option is it to overclock the ram in the bios?

i am going to get to 3ghz tonight just want to make sure that everything is running ok

No your ram is only running at 468*2=936 MHZ
set your ram mannually to 1066, or choose the correct divider so that you get 1066
up the FSB to the disiered speed perhaps 360 * 9 and set your ram correct.
check that your ram voltage is 2.2V for 1066 MHz

It makes little to no difference anyway on the Intel Core architecture, you are just talking a ms or so in a benchmark. Its not like the old days when you really suffered not running your memory synchronously with the bus.

hi cheers for the quick reply

I changed the ram to run at 1066 and changed the voltage to 2.2 and vista did not wanna boot, i switched the ram settings back to default am now running the cpu fsb at 323 giving me 2.9ghz ram is running at 484.5mhz at 1.8V

should i be changing the timmings for the ram?

Honestly? You really should concentrate on one thing at a time when overclocking, loosen the ram settings, set the timings to auto and focus on getting the CPU overclocked stable. Once you have that nailed down then you can go back and faff about with the memory.

You want to remove the memory from the equation when overclocking. Find the best cpu clock you can then tighten up the memory settings.
