My Current Setup and How Future Proof it is

I just made a big upgrade to my current setup,

went from 1080 to 3080 ASUS TUF
got the LG 27" 27GN950-B
Asus Strix 850 watt power supply

This is obviously to get the possible experience for upcoming games such as cyberpunk.
I also needed the color accuracy of that monitor as I do both photography and videography, I made the choice as it provides both worlds very well.

My current setup which I've had for the last couple of years is as follows,

8700K OC to 5 Ghz
16GB ram at 2400Hz
many drives that include SSD's
an Asus Strix motherboard z370 Gaming Edition

After doing research I went for that purchase after knowing my CPU won't get bottlenecked, I recently changed the thermal paste on my CPU since it has been going for almost 3 years strong now, the temps on it is perfect, the h100i v2 AIO is also looking good, and I feel like doesn't need changing any time soon.

How future proof would you say this set up is, and do you think it was a good purchase decision. I couldn't go full-on the upgrade as it would have been way too expensive, this current upgrade has already cost me 1500 pounds and above.

Also, WHEN WILL THE 3080 TUFF BE RELEASED, I'VE PREORDERED IT BUT I CAN'T FIND OUT WHEN I WILL GET MY HANDS ON IT???

Wow that really a big upgrade Lol:D A 27inch I didn't think they build them that small again:rolleyes: On the new 3080 card have a 2.1 HDMI but not on that 27GN950-B Pc monitor so you lose the 48Gbps on HDMI that waste of money IMO.

If you want a Future Proof PC computer the answer none, new PC components come out every one - two years

You make a good point regarding the future proof, but I didn't really get your point regarding the HDMI 2.1, as it's true that the monitor doesn't have that port (unfortunately) the DP will fully utilize the monitor's capabilities. The 2.1 HDMI is good for the future consoles coming out.

No, the 3080 has a HDMI 2.1 =48Gbps bandwidth and LG OLED TV have an HDMI 2.1 port, also 1080/2080 TI cards have only a HDMI 2.0b = 18Gbps bandwidth. so 3080 card HDMI 2.1 is new not DP

You can still get a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter to do 120hz @4k or 8k 60hz if you only had a 2080ti etc.
