Hi,

Just thought id post up a small mod i carried out on my Type R psu. I mainly wanted to change the colour of the fan as it was a hiper red fan which looked pink, it really didn't suit my case at all. The warranty had run out and i had an old coolermaster fan in my box of tricks so decided to swap it over. I noticed that the paint on the psu was scratched all over the place so thought id paint it at the same time (which turned into a nightmare of a job but thankfully some helpful people on OcUK helped me out) , i decided to paint it black to match my case.

The second part of the mod i decided to do just as a test piece for a mod i have planned for my eclipse.

This is the hiper logo rough cut with a jigsaw to remove as much material as possible before i attack it with my trusty dremel.

This is the logo finished and polished quickly using a wet stone.

Unfortunately the only real place i could put the logo was on the rear of the PSU but as i said it was just a practice run for the mod i plan to do on my eclipse :) .

The small mod I'm planning for my eclipse is basically the eclipse 62 logo done in handwriting and cut out of brushed stainless steel. I think it'll look far better than the white paint akasa logo that is there at the moment. Ive found a few decent handwriting fonts that i could use and have got hold of some stainless sheet.

Bah. I have never had a problem with Hiper PSU's and have been using loads of them.

Why is it you lot can swear by a PSU and a few months down the line when a few go wrong, you seem to think they are all bad.

Because there is an unusually high number of failures with the Hiper modular PSUs.

PSU looks great though mark :)

Indeed, but the above isnt moduler is it.

Sorry to break up thread.

Mod looks great! Keep it up.

Cheers :) , no its the non modular 480 watt version, has been going strong for nearly 2 years now so fingers crossed itll be ok for a while yet.

good work. Shame you wont be able to see it.

Well ill still be able to see it as the case is side on, with the psu facing me. The side of the psu would not be seen inside of the eclipse as it is closed off :( , i could have cut a hole out i suppose but its to much work for a small mod.

The steel will be a lot harder to cut and as its brushed, the slightest slip with the dremel will ruin the finnish so i wanted to practise first. The eclipse logo im going to make will be a fair bit bigger than the hiper logo i made but will also be a bit more fiddly as its joined handwriting.

Im too scared to lower it into my case incase i scratch the new paintwork  :D .

Nice dude...might have to drop you a mail on something i fancy doing on my project which would be cool
