Hey guys

Don't know if anyone is intrested but I'm going on a cycling tour through France this summer. I have created a blog to update with photos and information about my trip. I'm going alone so and it's all a bit new to me! Any touring/cycling tips would be good!

Blog is @ Bicycle Touring Blog

Thanks Carl

Good stuff, I've be interested to see how you get on.

Not sure I agree with 'Ride the Wind' though; cycling is always a race, which is probably why my quads always hurt.

Looks good, i'll try and keep up with what you're doing.
There is a thread here about bike touring with some good tips in it.

1. Chamois lube and padded shorts.
This is good advice. Couple of things i would add are:
1. Recovery drinks - either night time drinks or post-ride drinks.
2. Not sure if your dates will work out, but if possible, go and watch a stage of the TdF. Great to see if you're into cycling and might help to inspire you a bit if your starting to get bored of your bike :p

Nice blog! I'll try and follow it when I can, as I've always toyed with the idea of doing something similar. France is meant to be quite bike-friendly, and the countryside should be lovely to ride through.

Could you tell us a bit about your bike and equipment? Where are you staying overnight? Do you have a fixed route, or are you just going to go from A to B in any way possible? Just curious :)
