Ok here we go…

I got this laptop about 3 weeks ago and have been loving it since. But just in the last week the hard drive has started making slight clicking noises (not good) when its idling. I have been putting off phoning Dell about this and today it looks like it has died. I came home and moved the mouse to find the system had froze with the HDD light on solid. SO I had to hard reboot the laptop and on boot up I get post the Dell post screen and just get a black screen with a blinking cursor with nothing else.

Looks like the HDD has packed in, this along with my DVD problem with it not burning dual layer discs I am not best impressed., So looks like it will be a phone call to Dell to get this sorted. :(

Well last night I got on the phone to Dell and after a loooong wait I got through to a tech guy. I explained the problem and said how I know for a fact the hard drive is broken but he persisted with the general checking.

Anyway he got me to remove the hdd and re seat it and surprise surprise…. No difference. Then I had to run the built in Dell diagnostics check and this (after a long time) reported the hard drive was at fault. So the guy decided to replace it and they are sending a new one out.

Not bad service in the end I thought.

Oh Well

I am back up and running with my new hdd but the exact same model. Here is hoping this one lasts a little longer than before.
