What the heck? they were nice and shiny couple weeks back?

discs rust up almost instantly when they are not used, when you break again the rust is rubbed away, nothing to worry about :)

My truck's wheels look like that in the morning after a nights rain.

Now't to worry about tbh.

I drove quite heavily yesterday so never expected rust to form so quickly  it has been raining like mad though this morning :/

It's untreated "open" steel so it'll start to rust within 20 minutes. You could oil the discs, but then you'll drive off the cliff when you need brakes :)

I find that hard to believe, did your last car not have brake discs?:p

On the old car no rear discs but fronts yes, but no alloys so I never got to see them. I never really look at disc brakes either, unless they're on a scoob or something sporty where you cannot move your eyes away from them and the blue/red callipers.

Also normally every week I wash my car but before I do I always go to the shops and town etc then come home and wash it so as said above, they would have rubbed away after driving!

lol go out there with a water pistol and spray them, go back about 6hs later and there will be rust. it is the fine bits of metal that sit on the disk from braking

yeah right

It is nothing to do with salty roads but some discs are just made out of different stuff that doesn't rust. For example on my boss' BMW they never appear to corrode... On my Golf it happens almost instantly.

When i went to motor point to look for a car every car had totally rusted disks. They looked a mess really but i suppose theres nothing that can be done about it.

Well after a quick drive around town and to a cousins house the discs are as shiny as a fork! I like shiny :)

I also managed to almost hit a stupid driver who randomly pulled out of a parallel parking bay as I was driving past at 30mph, braked very hard even with abs the tyres screeched to a halt for a second.

This is the stupid driver - parking area on left where he/she (probably a she) pulled out of as I was passing.
