well its arrived sooo I better crack on..
so, you layed out all the parts and opened all the baggies of screws , yes !!
well that's your first mistake made, cos after the build you still have hundreds left and
not touched any of them 3 big chunky bags at all.
you lay out the side legs upside down and place on the bottom tray, go for the screws and think "no way" for 10 mins, they look way to small but yes, its them.
once the bottom and the back panel are on its all smiles, the desk takes on a super rigid form and you still have more parts to attatch, front stiffner on, top panel fitted "need to put the little slot to the front as it will fit any way round".
now for the drawer, blimey its a stiff fit going in, once in its a nice sliding feel and not sloppy, now this is where you will find it starts to have a tipping effect, pull out the drawer and it will bash your toes if you are not ready for it, all is not lost though as the 10 ton glass top soon sorts this out when you set it in place.
now for the keyboard tray, slide it down to where you want it, no do not, slide it up from the bottom, its much better and has less chance of marking the front of the chassis.
then the kicker, the instructions tell you how to adjust the hight, DO THIS FIRST, you do not want to be attempting it after build.
so, hows the hight...
well as you gather mine is set at the lowest hight with the keyboard tray at its lowest, now I am no giant (5' 7") and I am using one of the overclockers AK Racing £200 chairs.
its set at the same height as it is for my other desk and when I roll under this new one I still have 4" of space, could be 5 1/4 inch if I use the risers.
some final thoughts...........
the desk is solid
the finish is great
the drawer mechanism is sublime
the kit of parts is, well... its just awesome.
the keyboard tray mat/cover, well lets say its not doing anything for me.
built this on my own, GET HELP, an extra pair of hands would have been just so much easier..
what do I intend to do.........
I have 2 x donor systems, one is an i7 4790 devils canyon one and that's going in but the other is a i7 3770k system that wont fit, I say wont fit but if I remove the hd bays it looks like it will but that's another thing I will need to look into, the older 1150 mini its boards are spog looking compared to the newer 1151 boards that are emerging.
here is what I have now and I am replacing it totally.
I have purchased the phillips 40 monior from overclockers since and I need a monitor arm for it but as yet I cant find one lol.
I also intend to build I little surround for it that it can be slid in and out of..
there will be led's a plenty, I a lover of tack lol.
time to crack on, its going to take a few weeks but I will get some pics up and keep you updated.
thanks for reading
