Hi all,
I have all the following components
Gigabyte 965 DS4 motherboard (F3 bios)
Core 2 Duo 6600
Gainward Geforce 7900gt 512mb ddr3 PCIE
2 x Western digital 250 GB Caviar sata2 hard drives
Corsair Ram 2x1024 xms6400 C5 ram
If I set the machine up to run with a Raid0 on the Gigabyte chip I will suffer random resets, usually at times of high disk activity, this is even after a clean install with only the usual MS critical updates installed and nothing else.
I want to be able to hot plug a SATA drive into this system and it seems I have to set one the SATA controllers to ACHI to enable me to do this, if I set the Gigabyte chip to ACHI I loose the IDE connections on this chip, therefore my only option is to set the Intel controller to ACHI, this means I have to use the Gigabyte chip for my Raid0 and suffer the instability.
I have left the machine running for 2 days solid running memtest with no errors so I assume the ram is OK
Am I correct in my assumptions or is there some way to set the SATA ports to ACHI and Raid/IDE?
Is there any known stability issues with the Gigabyte chip and a Raid0?
Having read a few posts regarding the running voltage of the ram on this board should I increase mine, is memtest accurate enough to trust its results?
With the graphic card I have I suffer from regular crashes in exactly the same spot in the Counter strike video stress test although 3D mark 2005 will run through fine, do you think this is down to driver or software error, have tried the latest drivers but it will always crash in the same spot, even re-installed all the Steam games.
Should I use the additional graphic card power supply on the motherboard?
Sorry if I rambled a bit but any advice given would be gratefully received.
